I downloaded the beta of Windows 7 but have not have much of a chance to play around with it yet, so last night I was testing it out and wondered if Mozy worked on it. I downloaded the client and tried it out on my Windows 7 machine. I did not have a screen recorder installed so I tried ScreenToaster to record my installing and running the backup client.
Check it out below.
If it is not working in your browser try this page at ScreenToaster.
A couple things you will notice in the video. I had trouble with my mouse. That had something to do with ScreenToaster not Mozy. I could not see my mouse for most of the video so I used the keyboard to move around. I also had some issues with the speed test. That was most likely not a Mozy problem either. I am running Windows 7 beta in a Virtual machine and all uploads are slow on the machine. Mozy is probably reporting the correct speed. If the Windows 7 beta was installed directly on the computer I suspect there would be no speed problems.
There did not seem to be any problems with the Mozy software client installing or running the small backup at all. I did not have any data in the folders so that would be something to test and see if the Mozy client can run with a Gigabyte of data to backup. There would still be a great deal of testing before you can say that Mozy is ready for Windows 7 but this is a good start to know that Mozy will continue to work for you if you upgrade to a new computer after Windows 7 comes out.
