One of the most asked questions I get by email is what companies support mapped drives or network drives. With more and more homes having multiple computers and network attached storage devices it is not surprising that people want one service that can backup their networked data as well as the information on their local desktop or laptop.

IDrive – Offering a wide selection of packages for consumers with various needs and a wide selection of features there is an IDrive account for everyone.

SugarSync – With a full feature list that includes backup, sharing and file syncing SugarSync is an excellent service for those on Windows and Mac. They also lead the way in mobile with access for a wide range of mobile devices and support to even sync files from your mobile device to your account.

SOS Online Backup – A new service to our list but a leader in business backup. With the recent addition of a Mac client they are offering an excellent service to consumers.

Mozy – With the release of mobile apps this year and soon the release of Mozy Stash to sync files between computers Mozy is expanding their feature list beyond just backup.

Keepit – Another new entry on our top 10 list but not a new service. With an unlimited plan at an affordable price Keepit is a service to watch.

Memopal – Based out of Italy Memopal is a consistent service to keep your files safe. They are slowly making more inroads in the North American market and offer a solid service.

With Mozy soon to be releasing mobile apps for iOS and Android I thought I would list the services that I already know of that offer a mobile app for easy access to your files using your favorite mobile smartphone.

Each mobile app is different. Some offer just access to your files, while others like IDrive, is more of a smartphone backup program. Are You Switching Your Online Backup Service?

There are not very many people happy about Mozy‘s new backup plans. Mozy’s own community support forum, at the time of this writing, has 935 replies. The majority of those negative. A quick search of Twitter for Mozy also shows a large number of Tweets that are negative focused at Mozy.

Of course the users on Twitter and on the Mozy Forum are the loudest users. These are the users that most likely referred others to Mozy and are now the most upset by the change. They are most likely the users that are the power users that store a large amount of data that Mozy seems to want to have move on, but has Mozy underestimated they word of mouth of those power users to refer people?

This brings us to the question. Are you switching your online backup service? If so please leave a comment who you are switching to and why.

Backblaze has been gaining a lot of attention lately with the publishing of their post about their Backblaze storage pod. That helped boost the interest in their review here.

Those were the only two big surprises in the top ten this month. It will be interesting to see if anything changes through October. With IDrive announcing a new Twitter contest I would not be surprised if interest in IDrive rises.
