Welcome to Online Backup Deals! My name is John Tucker and I am the guy that put this site together. I hope you find the site useful and that you will use it to start backing up your computer.
Why did I make this site?
First you need to know that I spent 15 years working in IT for a large corporation here in Regina, Saskatchewan. There were not very many days that I did not deal with some type of computer problem where data was lost. From virus infections, malware, accidental deletion of files, and of course hard drive failures. One of my regular jobs was to try and recover lost data from backups and from users computers.
After I left that company I wanted to start helping people backup their computers. It is one thing for a large corporation to backup their data when they have an IT staff, it is another for a regular home user to protect their data, photos and videos. I started doing research on the various online backup services and from there Online Backup Deals.com was created. In addition to running Online Backup Deals.com I also routinely do computer consulting for small/medium sized businesses and individuals. The majority of that work is the setup and maintenance of onsite and online backup services.
Personal Bio
It was suggested to me that I should give a little blurb about me besides what I used to do and what I do now. I am happily married for 17 years. My wife works for the Government of Saskatchewan here in Regina. We have one girl, she is 8 years old. I won’t give their names because my wife does not want me too. She is still not sure where this whole online thing is going and I want to respect her desire to remain anonymous.
I have had several people from Twitter ask me about my photo of the cat. Her name was Snarky, a name that fit her well. Unfortunately she got out of the house back in October and was hit by a car. She would routinely sit on my computer keyboards. It is amazing how pets can become such a large part of our lives.
I am still learning a great deal about running a website but I am enjoying it a great deal. If this website is useful for you great.
